a love story

Everyone enjoys a good love story and I happen to think mine is pretty special.

Bryce and I met through my cousins Shawn and Michael. We became good friends and spent a lot of time talking on the phone and hanging out with our friends. Bryce will tell you that I dated all of his friends before I settled with him which is totally untrue and greatly exaggerated. I only dated one.

I obviously thought Bryce was great and so I tried setting him up with my cousin Lindsey. We didn't talk on the phone anymore while we were dating other people and the last time we saw each other before my mission was New Years Eve 2006, so we lost touch.

Fast forward to October 2008.

Michael invited me to go see a movie with him and a few of his friends. I had only been home a few weeks from my mission and was a little nervous about seeing a movie but I went anyway. I was standing outside the theater waiting when I saw Michael, Courtney and Bryce walking towards me.

Nothing against Bryce, but I hadn't thought about him the whole time I was on my mission so it was a total shock to see him. So I did what any girl would do...I put out my hand to shake his. Okay, okay. Returned missionary nerd, I know.

Bryce was like, I don't think so.
He said, "Give me a hug!". So I did. And then we sat by each other in the movie theater.

Bryce told me later that all he wanted to do was talk with me instead of watch the movie. I actually would have been grateful for him to pull me out of the theater because I was still in missionary mode and I hated sitting in that movie.

A few weeks later we went to help Shawn propose to Nina. A week after that we were spending every day together. I felt the spirit confirm in my heart that this was something VERY good.

It was awesome dating because we had already been such great friends before so there wasn't any awkwardness. It was just.so.easy. After dating for just two months I told Bryce I knew I was going to marry him so whenever he was ready to let me know. We were engaged a few months later and married on May 30, 2009. Crazy right? But it was the best decision I ever made.

After we were married Bryce told me he had a feeling about me back when we were just friends and would talk on the phone all the time. He said after hanging up with me he thought to himself, "I am going to marry that girl."

And he did.
